Purpose
These newsletters will now cover local and county news in addition to news we have carried about the proposed development of the Etowah Valley Golf and Resort. At the beginning of each month, we will show some of the dates and times of key boards and committees. All such meetings can be attended in person by anyone. The Board of Commissioners meetings are live-streamed from this page and all previous meetings can be accessed from the archived video broadcasts page.
Etowah citizens can also be nominated to serve on some of these 37 boards and committees. The County started its "Henderson County Conversations Podcast" in December of last year, and "Episode 7, Volunteer Boards and Committees" discusses the vital role all 37 volunteer boards and committees play in Henderson County Government and how one can apply to serve. The complete list of boards and committees and their descriptions can be found at this link.

Etowah Park
The Henderson County Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Henderson County Library, is exploring the idea of installing a StoryWalk around the Etowah Park trail. This websitehas more information about StoryWalks, and to see one in person you can go to Kate’s Park in Fletcher. Library staff change the story each quarter to introduce fresh literacy concepts, encouraging families to keep coming back. The StoryWalk would be a nice complement to the new playground being built at the Etowah Park.

Farmers Market
The Etowah Lions Farmers Market season is now in full-swing, with an opening day record for customers Wednesday, May 1, with 205 visitors during market hours of 3-6 pm
The market takes place from 3-6 pm every Wednesday through Oct. 30 in the parking lot in front of the Etowah Lions Clubhouse at Etowah Park, 447 Etowah School Road. Bring your empty aluminum cans and clean plastic bags for recycling. The revenue from the farmers market helps fund local community projects through the Etowah Lions Club.
The Wednesday, May 8 market will feature farm-fresh local produce, including lettuce, asparagus, kale, collards, green onions, mushrooms, tomatoes (summer season), and much more. Vendors also typically feature meat, freshly baked goods, prepackaged meals, honey, flowers, plant starts, herbal products, and locally crafted wares. Chat with the vendors to learn more about their products.
The Etowah Lions Farmers Market is growing into a mid-week community hub. All are welcome!
