Status of the Golf Club Sale
While the status of the Club sale has not been formally released, we continue to hear from reputable sources a decision and announcement will be forthcoming this month. We will share any announcement as soon as it is released. We want the current and any future owners to know the community stands ready to work with them to preserve and ensure the Club thrives.
Importance of the Golf Club to Etowah
The Club is important to Etowah for a number of reasons. It contributes to the natural beauty of the area and preserves open space which will only become more precious as time goes on. It enables Etowah to continue to be a destination for outdoor sports, which now includes road biking and river boating and fishing. This will only increase when the Ecusta Trail crosses downtown. Etowah is close to Dupont State Park which offers hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. It is also a gateway to Pisgah National Forest. And Etowah’s updated local park will also draw a lot more families with young kids when they see the new playground.
We all recognize housing pressures will continue because people need a place to live. The residents of Etowah need to pull together to ensure development plans are consistent with available infrastructure and carried out in a manner that preserves what we all love most about our town.
A Letter of Thanks
If there is any doubt there have been improvements at the golf club, this message printed in the Club’s newsletter should dispel that.
Community Meeting
The steering group of the Etowah Valley Preservation Society is planning a community meeting in the near future. We have been in discussions with members of the Henderson County Planning Department on ways we can become part of the process to implement the 2045 Comprehensive Plan. We hope the citizens of Etowah will take time to understand the process, to learn and understand the changes this will bring about, and to provide the input we will be asked to provide.
