Henderson County Planning Board Meeting
There will be a Planning Board meeting Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 5:30 PM at the King Street Meeting Room, 100 N. King Street; Hendersonville, NC.
There are two important topics on the agenda that are important to the residents of Etowah.
Clicking on these topics describes what is to be discussed.
The County notes “An implementation plan with an organized matrix is necessary for the County to utilize for measuring plan progress over the next 20 years.”
Also noted: “The first priority in the Implementation Plan is the Land Development Code (LDC) rewrite and associated zoning map amendments.”
We encourage those who are concerned about the future of Etowah to attend this meeting and to stay abreast of how the County translates the recently adopted 2045 Comprehensive Plan into Land Development Code (laws) LDC and zoning. It is much better to make our feelings known before they are approved by Commissioners than after they become the laws.
"Redefining Etowah Park" PARTF Grant Update Meeting
The County’s Parks and Recreation Department provided the most complete plan to date on how they will be updating the Etowah Park. A briefing to the Etowah community on Thursday, April 11th, covered the new exercise stations that will be placed around the walking path, a new multi-use court for both basketball and pickleball and the new playground facility. The latter will be an impressive three-story high structure consisting of two towers connected by a tunnel. Attached to each tower at the lowest level will be fixtures extending out from the tower to provide climbing, swinging, and slides. One tower will cater to younger children while the other older children.
The playground will be surrounded by a concrete walkway. The interior surface to be used is designed to break children’s falls and is porous so water will not puddle. It will meet the Americans with Disabilities Act standards. The slides presented can be viewed at this link. We were also provided videos of this playground in North Charleston and those can be seen at the following links:
The County plans to have all upgrades completed by the end of 2024 but have told us that the exercise equipment will be installed and ready for use in the next 6-8 weeks!
This new Etowah playground is absolutely destined to become a very popular playground!
