Etowah neighbors say RV park proposal could turn golf greens into a hazard

Neighbors are mobilizing against a mobile home development proposal. Though the Etowah Valley Golf Course may be acres of greens and woods now, neighbors worry if the proposal goes through, the course could be replaced with concrete and gravel.

Paula Hahn recently moved into the neighborhood, with a house beside the golf course. She had no idea her backyard could soon become an RV park, with space for 343 RVs, a golf course, and a two-story wastewater treatment center behind existing homes and a restaurant, among other things.

Neighbors say the proposal would turn their greens into a hazard.

RV park would be a nightmare, Etowah Valley residents say of plans for nearby golf course

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Developers in Henderson County are working to purchase Etowah Valley Golf & Resort and turn a portion of it into an RV park. Since finding out about the plan, many nearby residents have been working to stop it.

Julie Brandt said they just found out about Tribute Investment and Development Inc.'s proposal two weeks ago. “I have walked that golf course for 32 years, and it breaks my heart to see what’s going to happen to it,” she said.

No RV park on the golf course because of the high dollar neighborhoods but that monstrous storage building in the heart of Etowah was ok? Cummings Cove is building over every inch of Big Willow but that’s ok too? And the monstrous house they built when they tore down French Broad Manor. Amazing how much ”preservation“ money can buy.

As a lifelong resident who’s ancestors settled this area it heartbreaking what has been done to Etowah Valley. My grandfather worked at the golf course when it was the brick yard. And my Grandmother’s (Cantrell) homeplace has grapes growing on it for the winery. And the words Seven Falls comes to mind. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, FOR SURELY YOU MAY GET IT!

I am a newcomer to this area, last year my realtor recommended Waynesville, and even showed me a home there. Is there some difference with that town organization that would prevent Etowah from doing the same to not just stop this one, but also protect against next years takeover? ...edit sorry just saw this reason 'Etowah can’t. It’s not incorporated.'
